In the US, Oxygenics showerheads
meet American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
testing and materials specifications A112.18.1M-1996
- Plumbing Fixtures and Fittings.
In 1992, the
U.S. Government mandated that all showerheads
must use no more than 9.5 litres per minute of water.
Prior this, showerheads used as much as 21 litres
of water per minute.
Fourteen years later, the Australian government
introduced a new program called the '
Water
Efficiency Labeling Scheme' (WELS) which is
apparently supposed to "label products for water
efficiency, helping Australian households save water
and money".
Oxygenics showerheads do
not comply with the WELS standard due to the variability
of the flow rate under lower water pressures. What
this means is that under lower water pressures (e.g.:
150 kPa), this shower has a lower flow rate, thereby
using less water (see table below).
We believe this is because the testing standards
are based on inferior "flow-restrictor" technology
which essentially means you get the same flow rate
under a varying water pressures. Virtually all water-efficient
showerheads for sale on the Australian market use
this antiquated technology which typically results
in a weak, low-pressured spray which makes showering
tedious and unfulfilling.
Oxygenics showerheads uses a patented-technology
which "turbo-charges" the spray by accelerating
and oxygenating the water, thus reducing water consumption
while still delivering a powerful and invigorating
spray. They also adapt to low and variable water
pressures (as shown in the table below), which means
that the flow rate rises under increased pressure
up to the maximum flow rate (which varies from 5.7
- 9.5 L/m depending on the selected model).
Yet again, the government appears to have fallen
victim to its own bureaucracy. As evidenced by this
example, we believe that the WELS scheme has failed
in its primary objective, which is to assist consumers
in purchasing water efficient products. Clearly,
several of the testing processes have absolutely
nothing to do with water efficiency! Why else would
a product that uses less water while providing better
pressure be assigned a non-complying "water-warning"
label?
We know that we offer the BEST water efficient showerheads
in Australia, that's why they are covered by a 14
day risk free trial and a Lifetime Warranty.
You won't find an offer like that anywhere else!
So try one for yourself.

Scheme: Bureaucratic

One has to
ask themselves why a scheme that is designed
to "label showerheads for
water efficiency" includes expensive
tests which mandate that
- The difference
between the highest and lowest average
flow rates at 150, 250 and 350kPa cannot
exceed 2.0 litres per minute
(the higher the difference means that
the user has a higher degree of control
over the flow rate, allowing them to
adjust the spray to a comfortable level).
